Political Cartoons
Political cartoons have been roughly since the early 1500s and in effect have been showing how few American feel about the current political situation. As time went on there have been more and more of these cartoons published daily and most poke fun at most situation happening within the government at the time. Herb Block wrote an essay called The Cartoon. Block stated that, Cartooning is an irreverent form of expression, and one particularly suited for scoffing at the high an mighty. I add with this controversy beca intention finishedout the bill of political cartoons almost all of them depict a moot moment being made fun of.
Block states that these cartoons ar there just to poke at the high and the mighty, he follows this statement with a line from a cartoon that said, congratulation on keeping your hand out of the public till. His statement shows that blocks point of view is very strong and convincing. Later on in the essay he depict a base of politicians with very long noses and the subtitle said, What? Us tell fibs of some potpourri. Block substance abuses these types of examples to help him prove his point.
Dont mistake he also states that these cartoons are a tool that we use to help show politician that they are the public servants and they should come accordingly.
One major mistake that block make in his argument that he gives so m whatever example of the equal type of concept he doesnt use any form of logos to help us and to sway us into accepting his point of view. He mainly concentrates his argument through the use of ethos and pathos, both of which are strong tools to persuade the lecturer into accepting his point of view. If he were to use some kind of statistic showing how other people felt about these cartoons or if they agreed with him his argument would have become much more solid of an argument.
