In Roosting Hawk, the author uses diction to expose the arrogance of the war hawk by devising him appear to look almost God-like or divine. He does this by using words like, convenience and feet locked upon bark, as if the trees which his feet are locked upon plump to him. The diction within the lines of well-off Retrievals sketches the cover to be care-free and upkeep only in the present moment.
