In the beginning of the film, Scott Mechlowicz (Dan Millman) is portrait as a university seter who is a well known gymnast as well. Dan finds out that Nicks extraordinary speed, agility and co-ordination. From here on these both start becoming friendly, Dan nicknames Nick as Socrates and Dan seeks to learn the secret behind Nicks abilities.
Nick was affect by Dans interest and impatient, starts giving him a series of tasks and lessons. The concepts being imparted were: that one must live entirely in the present moment, other lessons included the related notion that at no time is nothing going on and the report that an appropriate time exists for fighting and another for abstaining from violence.
