Several characters in of mice and men display some division of a impairment. Whether its a somatogenic or psychological disability it is presented more than once throughout this story. In my smell this is the main theme in this novel. The importance of this theme is huge. Disabilities reach the lives of three of the characters. Lennie, the main character has a mental disability that affects his life majorly. Crooks and Candy both have a physical disability that affects their ability to work. People used to , and still do think that disabled mass are useless, and a tempestuous of space. Truth is they are volume too, although they may not be good at one thing they can be amazing at another. For example in this novel Lennie possess a mental disability that affected his speech and memory, however he was a great proletarian. He was strong and touchwood; he was as well a much better worker than most of the other guys at the ranch.
Crooks, the stable-hand gets his name from his crooked bottom. Crooks was also black, this caused major problems for him. In the time of the great depression organism black meant you were dirty, smelly, and it was something that was frowned upon. I guess you can say that existence black was a kind of disability during this time period. He would often be turned away from jobs because of his race.



When you think of racial discrimination today you think wow thats mean, but back then that was just the way it was. Truth is the black people thought the same about us. For example, in this book crooks tells Lennie you go get in outta my dwell. I aint cute in the bunkhouse, and you aint wanted in my room Because of Crooks race he was isolated from the other workers. They kicked him out of the bunkhouse, making him live in the barn. All because he was black people thought they were better than him. Lennie and Crooks get along very well. Crooks eventide asks Lennie if he can go with him and George when they buy their farmhouse.
