Draft Proposal Project
Overview
This is not a full-length look paper. You are simply writing a 2-page research proposal. counterbalance though you are not writing a extensive research paper, you must demonstrate in the proposal that you convey done some preliminary research. Your essay must let in at least 2 to 3 paragraphs of information pertaining to your topic. For example, you should depart a description of the medicine, pertinent definitions, historical information, instruments, famous artists, etc. You should also discuss how the music style is a criticism of the culture from which it originated. If your paper is on traditional folk music, you mightiness also tell how it influences the contemporary popular music of the country.
You may select your topic from the Draft Proposal Topic itemisation provided by Dr. Greene. If you choose a topic that is not on this list, you must first have it approved by a writing consultant. Topics should cover a specific style of music of a culture or in a circumstance country. The music expresses the identity of a particular people (culture), country, or region, such as Appalachia (solo fiddling music, music and clogging, bluegrass) Nigeria (juju, fuji, Afro-beat, Yo-pop), Brazil (bossa nova, samba, afroxé music, forro), Federal or southern Indian music, Egypt (al-jeel, shaabi), and etc.
Avoid papers on general characteristics of styles of music whose appeal is very broad, for example, reggae or salsa. In such cases select sub-categories of such styles of music. You will be asked to fiat the paper if your topic is not appropriate.
A grading glossiness will be used to determine the number of points you invite on the draft proposal and final draft. This rubric is available on WebCT Vista. Refer to the rubric when writing your paper to correspond that you are following the grading guidelines.
